Little Squares

Some places, the little squares are everywhere;
Other places, it's just not their kinda thing;
and most of the time, choosing the right style and colour mix is pretty important! :]

Talking about plaid shirts. Wait, I looked up the definition of flannel, plaid and checkered, 'cos I keep confusing myself. So here.

Flannel: A type of material. Soft, light woolen fabric, keeps you warm.

Plaid: A pattern. Plaid originates from the Tartan plaid prints of the Scottish Highlanders. Plaid was used to distinguish between family clans.

Checkered: A pattern of alternating squares of colours.

And, found this nice post about Plaid Print 101 by Sammy Davis Vintage, head over to learn some history about the oh-so-popular checkered fashion.

Here, some interesting plaid shirts styles I came across.

Left: Seldom find such cool blue plaids, different shades of blue in mix.
Right: A top that would've looked too normal otherwise. Baggy-ish with shorts and awesome boots!

Left: Warm yellow-brown match for a sunny day.
Right: Purple + Yellow = Creative! Love the combination.

Left: Bgirl Beatch with classic red plaids and her Funk Roots tee, plus the red Adidas, hot!
Right: Bboy Shingo matching red with light blue. I like the tone of clothing contrasted by shoes and a simple cap, fresh.

It's real cool to see these styles in fashion live in motion.

Tiny tips:
1. If you like to wear it baggy, try slightly rolling up the sleeves. Plain cool tee inside will do the job without buttoning-up.
2. For a fitting size, choose a shirt with a waist cut, or it'll look too hunky and straight for the upper body.
3. Choose the right colour. It's fun to get contrasting colours in plaids, but if the mix is stiff, it can go wrong. Try choosing lighter colours for a tan/brown skin tone, and sharper colours for fairer skin.
4. Do not match plaids with plaids or lines or others, and too, do not match with similar colours. Try neutral matches instead.

Aight ya'all.
Drop some words if you have more insight about plaids!

Peace out! :]
